Meeting Sutton Hargrave was the beginning of the end for me.
My journalistic—fine, nosy—nature has led me a lot of places. Without question, Midnight Falls is definitely the craziest.
Get in, get out. That was the plan. But now, thanks to a vengeful witch, I find myself trapped alongside an entire pack of werewolves—because apparently, they’re real.
And the sexy, mysterious Sutton Hargrave seems to think I’m the key to freeing us all.
If I want to do that, I’ll have to face more than just a witch out for revenge.
I’ll have to let go of the one man who actually claims to love me.
Even if it kills me to set him free.
If you enjoy enemies to lovers, slow-burn, alpha hero, shifter romance set in a small, creepy town with lots of secrets, this is the series for you!

Chapter One Look Inside
Chapter One Look Inside
Holy shit. I’m trapped. The realization hits me the moment I open my eyes. It’s the first thing on my mind just as it was the last thought I had before finally drifting off sometime before dawn. Not that those hours of sleep were particularly restful. Hard to find rest when my sleep is riddled with nightmares about how horribly I failed—and how there’s no running away from any of this. Not anymore.
Groaning, I roll over and bury my face in the pillow. Sutton’s scent hits me like a ton of bricks. No surprise, considering I spent the night in his bedroom—again. He’d offered to stay with me, but I’d refused—too upset about the party to want company. Okay, not so much the party as the murder and witchcraft and werewolves at the end.
Hell of a finale.
Most human parties end with fireworks, but, apparently, that’s not enough for these people. Ugh. Not people. Not when every one of Midnight Falls’ residents can once again shift at will into a wolf.
It was maybe the craziest moment of my life watching them all turn into four-legged predators at once. When the shock wore off, though, I recognized it for the opportunity it was. And I wasn't the only one.
With their wolf senses restored, the pack had tried hunting down Audrey and Yvette so we could end this, once and for all—due process be damned. But a full search of the town had yielded nothing. They’d simply … vanished. My only hope is that they’re trapped just like I am. Hiding out somewhere nearby. Otherwise—I don’t even want to consider what it means if they’ve managed to sneak out, leaving us trapped in here with nothing but a magical curse to contend with until next year’s renewal.
One thing is certain, though: Nowhere is safe until they are found.
Gripping Sutton’s pillow with one hand, I breathe him in. Maybe having him here last night would have been a healthy distraction. A way to pass the time. I can’t freak out about my nightmarish reality if I’m too busy orgasming...right?
Ugh. No.
It was my raging hormones that got me into this shitty predicament, and the last thing I need is to listen to them again. Who knows what’ll happen if I slip again? Another murder? Refusing to let my hormones be the reason for another death, I force myself to get out of bed.
After crossing the room, I pause in front of the door. Shutting myself in here alone has cocooned me even just for a few hours. It let me pretend or try to forget the impossible reality of my life. When I leave this room, it all becomes horrifyingly real.
I’m trapped in Midnight Falls.
Being hunted by a woman—no, a witch—bent on revenge for a crime she, herself, committed.
And somehow, last night, I broke the part of her curse that was keeping the residents of this town trapped in their human forms. A flash of blue light and now they can shift at will again. Maybe that’s good news for them, but for me, it only adds to the ‘crazy.’
I double back to the mirror that hangs over the sagging dresser. A hairline crack runs across the top edge of the reflective glass.
Seven years bad luck, I can’t help but think.
Kind of sums up the turn my life has taken.
